23rd Annual Chocolates Galore and More! Event Coming Soon

It's that time of the year again...time for YMCA Loudoun County's premier annual fundraising event. This year's "23rd Annual Chocolates Galore and More!" event will be Friday, February 18 at the West Belmont Place at the National Conference Center. The event will feature a dessert and hor d'oeurve competition, silent and live auctions, music, dancing, and of course, free-flowing champagne from 7:00 - 11:00 p.m.

Buy your tickets or a table online today! A large portion of the proceeds from the event go towards YMCA Loudoun County's Building Bridges Program, which helps serve the needs of local children and families in need. The funds help support programs that give low income and homeless families food, clothing, healthy meals, and wellness programs.

Associate Director of Community Development for YMCA Loudoun County and YMCA Fairfax County, Margaret Doles, said, "Chocolates Galore & More! is open to everyone, including residents of Loudoun County and the greater Metropolitan Washington area.  Attendance ranges from 400 (during Snowmageddon 2010) and has climbed to over 700 in recent years!  The event has developed a loyal following and is much anticipated in Loudoun County, but we always look forward to record breaking attendance with guests from all over Metropolitan Washington."

Here are some of the highlights of this year's event:

- The Dessert and Hors d’oeuvre Competition will feature luscious chocolates, exquisite desserts and mouth-watering hors d’oeuvres prepared by the area’s finest restaurants and caterers.  Each complete for Best Presentation and Best Taste with Critic’s Choice, judged by three professional food critics and People’s Choice judged by event attendees.

- There will be an Impressive Panel of Judges for Critic’s Choice Awards:  Mike Isabella (Owner of Graffiato, DC; Contestant on Season Six of Top Chef & Top Chef All-Stars), Rebekah Pizana (Owner of Gourmet Amore; Professional Pastry Chef and Travel Food Writer), and Charlie Adler (Founder and President or TasteDC; Author of “I Drink on the Job: A Refreshing Perspective on Wine”).

- The Silent & Live Auctions include fantastic getaways, entertainment and fine dining!  A shortlist includes a romantic getaway to the Westin Riverfront & Spa, Colorado (including airfare), the Chef’s Table at Vintage 50 (a presenter this year), Round of Golf & Lunch at Trump National, and Weekend Getaways at Boar’s Head Inn and the Goodstone Estate & Inn.  We’ll also offer some exciting sports memorabilia and hand signed music memorabilia, including guitars!

- Two lucky readers of the Loudoun Times Mirror will win free tickets to attend the event, having submitted a story about their “Special Valentine!”  The contest will be featured in print and online.  We welcome Loudoun Times Mirror as a corporate sponsor this year.

What is Doles looking forward to most? She said, “Chocolates” is an exciting event for everyone who participates – from the phenomenal food, to the great entertainment and free-flowing champagne!  Although it’s a great party, it’s the YMCA’s opportunity to thank countless corporations, community leaders, principals, and volunteers who allow the Y to better serve our community.  I look forward to sharing their impact with our many guests and thanking each of them personally!"
