Gary Mester is the photographer behind “The Nature of Virginia: Images of Loudoun” exhibit which is currently on display on the first floor of Leesburg Town Hall. Mester has been a photographer for 12 years now. Originally from New Jersey, the Air Force moved Mester to Northern Virginia in 1974. He currently resides in Chantilly, but has explored many parts of Loudoun County with his camera.

“Nothing stays the same. Everything here is so fragile,” said Mester. He feels that people don’t really get out and explore as much; Loudoun County has so much to offer, for example: Aldie Mill and the handful of wineries. His photographs represent ten years of local history and including landscapes and a wide-range of Loudoun County community events. While Mester's favorite type of photography is of "flowers and butterflies," he finds people extremely interesting and continues to photograph a variety of things.

All 30 of the photographs in the exhibit are on sale and will be on display until April 30, 2011. Watch the video to hear about Mester’s background and inspiration.
