Curry’s Auto Donates $15K to Dulles South Youth Sports at Freedom H.S.

South Riding, VA -- Curry’s Auto Service is donating $15,000 to Dulles South Youth Sports (DSYS) Football  Friday, October 8, at 7 pm, at Freedom High School, 25450 Riding Center Drive, South Riding.

Chris Coulter, Curry's Vice President, and Aundria McCarthy, Curry's marketing manager, will present the check to  Gus DiPierro, Commissioner for DSYS. The check is seed money for the “Curry’s Field and Scholarship Fund,” which will provide athletic scholarships to DSYS players and funding for a future field facility. 

REHAU Polymer Solutions Center Groundbreaking Ceremony Scheduled for Thursday, September 30, 2010

From the Town of Leesburg, VA – At 5:00 pm, on Thursday, September 30, 2010, REHAU will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for their new Polymer Solutions Center, which will be located on the campus of their North American headquarters at 1501 Edwards Ferry Road NE in Leesburg.

“As the North American market continues to be focused toward sustainable building practices that deliver on energy efficiency, ecologically-minded material use and renewable energy sourcing, we are committed to helping our customers, partners and community members understand how best to proceed in this regard,” said Dr. Kathleen Saylor, chief executive officer for REHAU North America. “As part of this goal, we have designed the REHAU Polymer Solutions Center as a structure in which all of our sustainable building technologies can be seen ‘in action’, operating in an integrated fashion as harmonious, whole-building solutions.”

L-3 Communications Acquires Ashburn’s Airborne Technologies

The defense contractor L-3 Communications Holdings Inc. announced today that it has acquired Airborne Technologies. Shortly thereafter, shares of L-3 increased by 11 cents in afternoon trading. Airborne Technologies is headquartered in Ashburn, VA.

L-3 stated that the deal to acquire Airborne Technologies, which helps make unmanned aerial systems for the Defense Department, was set up as an asset purchase for income tax purposes. Also, Airborne Technologies is anticipated to produce $20 million in sales for 2010. L-3 also remarked that the acquisition will augment its work in pilotless plans, a large demand by military at this time.

Asburn to Host Chamber of Commerce Program

The Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce has 1,100 members, making it one of the largest chambers in the area. This Wednesday, August 11, the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce is holding its “State of the Loudoun Economy” program at 8:00 a.m. at the Belmont Country Club in Ashburn, VA.

The program will be led by Tim Hemstreet, who is the country administrator, as well as Stephen S. Fuller, who is the director of the Center for Regional Analysis at George Mason University. The chamber will be offering its outlook for the county.
