Residents at Ashby Ponds Make Returning to School Easier for Parents, Students Alike

(Ashburn, Va.) - On Monday, August 19, the Ashby Ponds Retired Educators Committee made the day brighter for 22 employees at the Ashburn retirement community.  At Ashby Ponds, residents who are retired educators and school employees formed a group at the community to help support education initiatives.  Most of the residents in the group are former Fairfax County Public School teachers, secretaries, and librarians, but many worked in schools in other area counties, as well.  For the fourth consecutive year, the group worked together to help make going back to school easier for the children of hourly employees at the community.  This year, residents bought and donated school supplies for 38 children in kindergarten through high school and distributed the supplies at the community on Monday, August 19.
