Free Parking for the Holidays in Downtown Leesburg

Parking in the Town Hall parking garage and at all on-street parking meters will be free from Wednesday, November 27, 2013 through Wednesday, January 1, 2014

The Town of Leesburg will be offering free parking throughout the holiday season in the Town Hall parking garage and at on-street parking meters in the Historic Downtown.  The two-hour limit at on-street meters will remain in effect during the free holiday parking promotion.  Free parking will begin at 5:00pm on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 and will continue until 8:00am on Thursday, January 2, 2014.  The tradition of providing free holiday parking in downtown Leesburg began in 2005.

Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) of Lorton, Va. will host their annual Breakfast with Santa on Sun., Dec. 8 at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Hotel Monaco, 480 King Street in Old Town Alexandria. Tickets range in price from $35 to $45 per person. All tickets can be purchased online at www.metropolitanarts.org

ThFrosty Follies’ performers will join Santa for the annual Breakfast with Santa. The family-event offers Sunday brunch at the Hotel Monaco in Old Town Alexandria, complete with a live jazz performance from Metropolitan School of the Arts’ dancers, interactive song and dance workshop for the kids, special goody bags and visits from Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Suzy Snowflake and her International Dolls.

Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) of Alexandria and Lorton, Va. will present their annual Nutcracker performances on Sat., Nov. 23 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., and on Sun., Nov. 24 at 12 p.m. and
5 p.m.at the Northern Virginia Community College, Ernst Cultural Center at the Annandale Campus in Annandale, Va. Ticket prices range from $18 to $27 and can be purchased online at www.metropolitanarts.org.

With the holidays approaching, eating and indulging is top-of-mind for most, but The Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) Studio in Alexandria, Va. has started its Training for Turkey adult fitness program now through Nov. 28, offering unlimited adult fitness classes for $50.  MSA will even host a special Thanksgiving Day MetroBarre and Yoga Class on Thurs., Nov. 28 to bring in the holiday. And for all those moms, childcare is available at both studios for all 9:30 a.m. classes, Monday through Friday. Cost is $2 per child. The City of Manassas Department of Public Works and Utilities is donating $3, 165 to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Awareness, as part of their 100 Year Anniversary Event, where more than 600 people attended and Manassas Utilities donated $5 for every person that participated. They also announced winners of their grand prize giveaways, which are: Janet Richards of Manassas, winning the Ashby Jeweler’s pearl necklace and bracelet set, while Jesse Caudill, Marita Doherty and Pedro Amaya of Manassas, Va. also won $50 gift cards from City Square Café and Monza of Manassas. Are you a student looking for employment where you’ll cultivate meaningful relationships with peers and older generations in your community?  If so, Ashby Ponds may be the place for you!  Join us at the community on Monday, October 14 from 1:30-3pm for a special student job fair.  At the fair, you’ll learn about the community’s employment benefits, take a tour, meet current student employees, and enjoy snacks!  

At Ashby Ponds, there are over 100 high school students from Loudoun County and Fairfax County working for the community’s dining services department.  The students work in a variety of capacities including as servers, restaurant assistants, and service coaches, among other positions.

With the advent of October, Monza of Old Town Manassas, Va. is hosting a four-course pumpkin beer dinner, featuring beers from Dogfish Head, Southern Tier, Devil’s Backbone, Williamsburg Aleworks and Flying Dog. on Thurs., Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m. for $65 inclusive.
