Alan Brewer has been selected as Loudoun County’s new Energy and Environmental Program and Policy Administrator and will join the Department of Construction and Waste Management beginning April 11, 2011.

In his new position, Brewer will provide support to the Board of Supervisors, Office of the County Administrator, and other county departments in the areas of energy and environmental policies and programs. He will also establish and maintain an information network for federal, state and local legal, regulatory and ordinance updates and policies; respond to public inquiries regarding the Loudoun County Energy Strategy and environmental programs and policies; and coordinate information and education about the county’s energy and environmental programs.

Brewer began his career in private consulting. In 1993, he joined the Virginia Department of Health in Clarke County. Since 2000, Brewer has been with the Loudoun County Health Department’s Environmental Health Division, most recently as Environmental Health Manager. His duties included overseeing onsite water and wastewater, food safety, tourist establishment sanitation, rabies and vector control, public pool sanitation and emergency preparedness and response.

Brewer holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science from Pennsylvania State University and a Master’s Degree in Environmental Biology from Hood College in Maryland.
