Constitutional Officer Week in Loudoun County is January 16 – 20, 2012

In recognition of Constitutional Officer Week in Loudoun County, the county’s constitutional officers will hold a food drive January 16 – 20, 2012, to benefit the Interfaith Relief organization. Residents are asked to drop off non-perishable food items during the week at the offices of the Clerk of the Circuit Court, Commissioner of the Revenue, Commonwealth’s Attorney, Sheriff and Treasurer.

In Virginia, the public elects not only local, state and federal representatives, but also  constitutional officers, so named because their offices are specifically established by the Constitution of Virginia. These officers are charged with the important duties of maintenance of public records, operation of the circuit courts, prosecution of criminals, protection of public safety, and administration and collection of local revenues.  Loudoun’s five constitutional officers are:

  • Gary M. Clemens, Clerk of the Circuit Court
  • Robert S. Wertz Jr., Commissioner of the Revenue
  • James E. Plowman, Commonwealth’s Attorney
  • Michael L. Chapman, Sheriff
  • H. Roger Zurn Jr., Treasurer
