Nova Medical & Urgent Care Center, Inc. Welcomes Three New Providers | Health

Ashburn, VA –Nova Medical & Urgent Care Center, Inc., the largest primary care practice in Loudoun County, introduces three new medical providers to the team. 

“We are pleased to welcome three wonderful medical providers to the Nova team,” states Medical Director Dr. Grace Keenan.  “With the introduction of these individuals, we are able to further meet our patients’ ever-growing healthcare needs, and provide additional dermatological and diabetes education services.” 

• Dr. Dawna M. Rogers specializes in internal medicine and dermatology.  Prior to joining Nova Medical Group, she worked for Tulane University Department of Medicine as staff physician for six years.  She then relocated to Maryland where she was employed by Kaiser Permanente as the staff physician in dermatology for 12 years.  She received her Doctor of Medicine from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C.  She then completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of California at Irvine/Veterans Administration Medical Center in Long Beach, CA and her residency in dermatology at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA.  Dr. Rogers is actively engaged with the community and has been involved with Capital City Links in Washington, D.C. since 1998.  Dr. Rogers is now accepting patients in the Ashburn office.

• Registered Dietitian & Certified Diabetic Educator Amy Johnson joins Nova with 14 years of dietetic experience.  She earned her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from James Madison University in 1992, graduating Magna Cum Laude.  She completed her dietetics internship at Brigham & Women's Hospital, teaching affiliate of the Harvard Medical School, in Boston, MA.  Amy also received specialized diabetes training from The Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston and The International Diabetes Center in Minneapolis, MN.  In 2003, she received her certification as a diabetes educator.  Before joining Nova, Amy worked as a diabetes educator for the INOVA Fair Oaks Diabetes Center.  She is a member of the American Dietetic Association and is now accepting patients in the Ashburn office.

• Family Nurse Practitioner Jean Cox has more than 10 years experience in the primary care setting, caring for both pediatric and adult patients.  Jean also has multiple years of experience providing international humanitarian healthcare in Honduras, Indonesia, Ecuador, and Haiti with Project Hope on the U.S. Navy ships, Mercy and Comfort.  Jean received her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Frederick Community College in Frederick, MD and earned both her bachelor's degree and her Masters of Science in Nursing at George Mason University in collaboration with the George Washington University's School of Medicine.  She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society and is particularly interested in women’s and children’s health.  She is now accepting patients in the Ashburn and Sterling offices.
