Couple dies in motorcycle crash in Va. | News
ASHBURN, Va. (WUSA9) -- A married couple has died after their motorcycle was hit by a drunk driver, say Loudoun County Sheriff's Office authorities.
Authorities say, at 12:50 a.m. on Sunday a 2012 BMW 750Li driven by 52-year-old Mark A. Sgarlata of Ashburn, Va. hit the motorcycle driven by 46-year-old Patrick Wrenn, Jr. of Ashburn.
According to authorities, their preliminary investigation indicates that Sgarlata was making a left turn into the shopping center at Junction Plaza from Ashburn Farm Parkway when he struck Wrenn's motorcycle.
Wren and his wife, 44-year-old Leia Wrenn, were thrown from the motorcycle, say authorities. Authorities say the husband and wife died from their injuries at the hospital.
Sgarlata was not injured, say authorities. He was charged with DUI and two counts of felony aggravated involuntary manslaughter and remains held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bond.
