New Toll Structure for The Dulles Greenway on January 1
News, Transportation

From Dulles Greenway:

Effective January 1, 2012, the maximum base toll to travel on the Dulles Greenway will increase $0.30 to $4.00 as permitted by the State Corporation Commission’s (SCC) approved toll structure.  The congestion management toll will increase by $0.30 as well to $4.80.  Greenway motorists traveling onto or from the Dulles Toll Road will continue to pay the applicable Dulles Toll Road toll currently $.75 for a 2 axle vehicle; bringing the total collected to $4.75 and $5.55 respectively.  The Greenway continues to work diligently to provide the best commuter road in Virginia for its customers.
The Greenway remains the only private road in Virginia and as such is the 6th largest contributor of property tax in Loudoun County.  The Greenway is also financed through the private bond market and a full 69% of all tolls collected go to debt service, along with an additional 28 % to items such as police service, operations & maintenance, E-Z Pass fees, MWAA fees, property taxes and insurance.
The Greenway is in the final year of the existing toll structure.  Beginning on January 1, 2013 -- per legislation approved in 2008, which amended the 1988 Act -- the Greenway’s tolls will be tied to the Consumer Price Index.
