LCSO Presents Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute Scholarships

From Loudoun Sheriff:

Loudoun County, Virginia- Two high school graduates from Loudoun County were each presented with a $500 check from Loudoun Sheriff Steve Simpson as part of the Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute (VSI) scholarship program.

The scholarship program, established by the VSI’s Board of Directors, was established to provide an opportunity for young people across Virginia to pursue an educational curriculum in criminal justice.

The two scholarship recipients were Joseph Siegel of Purcellville, VA, who graduated from Loudoun Valley High School and Daniel O’Connell of Leesburg, VA, who graduated from Loudoun County High School. Joseph will be attending Randolph-Macon University in the fall with Daniel heading to Radford University.

The Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute was organized in 1981 and is funded primarily by citizens throughout Virginia. The Institute is involved in a myriad of training and educational activities and does not participate in any political activities. The Institute sponsors management and training conferences for sheriffs and deputies, a newly elected sheriffs’ school, lawful employment training for sheriffs, the Virginia State Police Association Emergency Relief Fund, the National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund to honor Virginia officers killed in the line of duty, scholarships for students entering into the criminal justice field, and the National Sheriffs’ Institute educational program.
