From the Leesburg Police Department:

On July 14th, Leesburg Police officers responded to the 100 block of Catoctin Circle SW to meet with staff members of the Friends of Homeless Animals Shelter.   Shelter staff had reported a Jack Russell terrier stolen from their facility to the Loudoun County Sheriffs Office in December of 2010.   The staff had gotten a tip that the dog may be at a residence in the 100 block of Catoctin Circle, SW.    Leesburg Police Officers contacted Loudoun County Animal Control officers so they could scan the dog for the microchip that was in the stolen dog.

Officers met with residents at the home and dog was found at the residence. Staff from the shelter identified the dog and it tested positive for the microchip which identified it as the stolen dog.  Animal Control Officers took the dog into protective custody immediately.   The suspect, who was not home at the time, faces felony charges for the theft of the dog.
