Grand Opening of New Senior Center & Library Administration is October 22

The public is invited to the grand opening of The Senior Center of Leesburg and the Loudoun County Public Library administrative offices at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 22, 2011. The Loudoun County Public Library and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services will host the opening ceremony at the newly-renovated facility located at 102 North Street, N.W., in Leesburg, which formerly housed the administrative offices of the Loudoun County Public Schools.

The capital project involved the phased renovation of approximately 34,000 square feet and included interior architectural, mechanical and electrical renovations, as well as exterior improvements and renovation work, site work and site improvements.

Art Exhibition Features Talents of Loudoun County Government Employees

A new art exhibition featuring a variety of artwork by Loudoun County Government employees is currently on display in “Gallery One” on the first floor of the Loudoun County Government Center, 1 Harrison Street, S.E. in Leesburg.

Thirteen artists are participating in the exhibit which showcases nearly two dozen photographs, paintings, and mixed-media pieces dealing with a variety of subjects. The artists are: Rob Balinger, Phil Erickson, Diane B. Ferrall, Kathy Franck, Gail Garner, Larr Kelly, Mita Mathur, Julie Moon, Erik Onate, Barbara Sample, Katy Sandin, Susan Blanchard Sutton, and Christene Vogel.

Due to the excessive heat warning and expected high temperatures on Saturday, July 23, 2011, the Acoustic on the Green concert featuring Robbie Limon will be held in the lower level of the Leesburg Town Hall (25 West Market Street).

Board Seeks Representatives for Mason Enterprise Center Board of Advisors

The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors is seeking interested county residents to participate in a newly formed advisory board.  Under terms of a Memorandum of Agreement with the Town of Leesburg for the Mason Enterprise Center (MEC), Loudoun County will appoint three representatives to the 15-member Board of Advisors of the MEC.  The Town of Leesburg, Loudoun Chamber of Commerce and George Mason University will also appoint representatives to the Board of Advisors.  Once constituted, the Board of Advisors will appoint three additional members.  The Board of Advisors will have the following responsibilities:
