Loudoun County Personal Property Tax Deadline is May 5, 2011

From Loudoun County -- Loudoun County Treasurer H. Roger Zurn Jr. reminds taxpayers that the deadline for payment of the first half personal property tax is Thursday, May 5, 2011.

Payments postmarked after May 5, 2011, will incur a 10% late payment penalty. Additional interest at the rate of 10% per annum will be assessed. Payments not received within 60 days of the due date will incur an additional 15% penalty. The due date will not be extended for bills where assessment questions have been filed with the Commissioner of the Revenue.

Loudoun Government Center Exhibition Features Artist Debbie Cadenas

The Loudoun County Art Advisory Committee presents an exhibition of twenty oil and acrylic paintings by Middleburg artist Debbie Cadenas.  The exhibition can be viewed during business hours in the Loudoun County Government’s “Gallery One” through the end of April. The gallery is located on the first floor of the Loudoun County Government Center, 1 Harrison Street, S.E. in Leesburg.

Cadenas shares her Middleburg home with her husband of 24 years and their three children.  She enjoys caring for her animals, which include sheep, goats, chickens and horses, and which inspire some of her paintings.

The art exhibition is sponsored by the Loudoun County Art Advisory Committee whose members are appointed by the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors.

Free Tax Preparation Services Available for Low-Income NoVA Families in Through April 16

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) program is in full swing in Loudoun County providing free tax services to families earning less than $49,000 per year. The program provides one-on-one assistance to customers on a walk-in basis.  Free tax services will continue through April 16, 2011, at some sites in Loudoun County and many additional sites in Northern Virginia.

Tour Season Begins at Loudoun County Landfill

From Loudoun County -- Members of the 4-H Cloverbuds from Lucketts kicked off the 2011 tour season at the Loudoun County landfill.  The group received a driving tour through the facility and got a close-up view of landfill machines in action, and participated in a discussion about recycling.  Tours are booked until June, but there are plenty of summer and fall dates open from June through November.

The Loudoun County landfill is located at 21101 Evergreen Mills Road, Leesburg, and is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

From the Town of Leesburg – Ida Lee Park Recreation Center will be upgrading their cardiovascular exercise equipment mid to late March 2011.  This top-of-the-line equipment will feature the latest technology and provide users with a unique motivational workout experience.  The new equipment includes:

A machine different from any other, the low-impact AMT 100 (pictured right) is designed to work the body as well as the imagination. Go from short to long strides, walking to running, then into deep lunges on-the-fly.  Users can create a unique workout every time!
