Free Parking for the Holidays in Downtown Leesburg

Parking in the Town Hall parking garage and at all on-street parking meters will be free from Wednesday, November 27, 2013 through Wednesday, January 1, 2014

The Town of Leesburg will be offering free parking throughout the holiday season in the Town Hall parking garage and at on-street parking meters in the Historic Downtown.  The two-hour limit at on-street meters will remain in effect during the free holiday parking promotion.  Free parking will begin at 5:00pm on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 and will continue until 8:00am on Thursday, January 2, 2014.  The tradition of providing free holiday parking in downtown Leesburg began in 2005.

Paula Cano was recently named head chef of Carmello’s in Old Town Manassas. Hired by Carmello’s more than two years, Cano’s artistic passion for beauty and creativity showed through in the finest details of her dishes, which is how she claimed her spot as head chef of Carmello’s. A Colombian-native, Cano began with a love for art before she knew food was her real passion. As a graduate of Art Institute of Washington, D.C., she merged her two loves of food and art. Morais Vineyards of Bealeton, Va. is hosting a five-course, fall wine dinner with Carmello’s of Old Town Manassas, Va. on Thurs., Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m. Menu items highlight Caremello’s new fall menu, including clam cataplana, braised rabbit and beef short rib. The five-course menu includes: Clam Cataplana, clams with coriander cilantro broth, served with Morais Vineyards Battlefield Green Wine; Spinach Salad with toasted walnuts, goat cheese, cherry, tomatoes, citrus vinaigrette, served with Morais Vineyards Rose; Braised Rabbit with fennel, leek and orange, paired with Morais Vineyards Touriga National; Beef Short Rib, with carrots and pickled shallots, paired with Morais Vineyards Cabernet Franc; and Poached Pears with moscatel wine syrup, served with Morais Vineyards Moscatel.

Now through Dec. 31, 2013, Occasionally Cake of Old Town Alexandria, Va. is hosting cupcake decorating classes on Tuesdays, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesdays, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays, as scheduled and Sundays from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.. Each class is two hours and instructors teach four different cupcake designs for take-home cupcakes, as each month features seasonal design options. Class is $60 per person. With the advent of October, Monza of Old Town Manassas, Va. is hosting a four-course pumpkin beer dinner, featuring beers from Dogfish Head, Southern Tier, Devil’s Backbone, Williamsburg Aleworks and Flying Dog. on Thurs., Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m. for $65 inclusive. The four-course dinner will be paired with a variety of pumpkin beers including: a Greeter Beer of Dogfish Head Punkin Pumpkin Ale; Southern Tier PumKing Pumpkin Ale with Pumpkin Hummus Bruschetta; Devils Backbone Icabod Crandall Pumpkin Ale served with Roasted Corn Soup topped with Cherry tomatoes and Chorizo; Williamsburg Alewerks with Homemade Butternut Squash served with toasted pumpkin seeds and Braised Short Rib; and Flying Dog’s The Fear Imperial Pumpkin Ale paired with Pumpkin Cheesecake.

First course: Raging Bitch Belgian Style IPA served with Oysters Florentina
