(ASHBURN, VIRGINIA) – Dick Rabkin spent over 15 years working as a patent and trademark attorney for Ideal Toy Company, which manufactured and distributed toys, dolls, and games beginning with the Teddy Bear in the early 1900s.  “I had toys and games all over my office,” said Rabkin.  The Ideal Company’s largest competitors were Hasbro and Mattel before the company was dissolved in 1985 a few years after being purchased by CBS.  Some notable toys produced by the Ideal Toy Company include Mr. Machine, Chrissy, Betsy Wetsy, the Magic 8-Ball, and the Rubik’s Cube.

A Beautiful Morning for an Inaugural Sail

A Beautiful Morning for an Inaugural Sail

Dozens of Ashby Ponds residents gathered together on the morning of June 19 around the community's newest pond.  They watched as fellow residents and proclaimed boat enthusiasts dipped their remote-controlled boats into the pond for an inaugural sail.

The recent completion of the community's second pond and new gazebo came as a result of the community's recent expansion.  In April 2012, Ashby Ponds opened a new residential building, Red Robin View, inclusive of 80 new apartment-style homes that is adjacent to the pond.  The new building brings the total population of residents at Ashby Ponds to just under 700.
